Does Unconditional Love Really Jibe With Eternal Punishment?

Question by BeachBoarder: Does unconditional love really jibe with eternal punishment?
I feel that God’s unconditional love and eternal punishment for unbelievers just completely contradict each other. I have an ex boyfriend who does not love me back, but I love him unconditionally–he could literally hold a gun to my head and I would still love him. If I can do this for a person, can’t Jesus do it too? I know I’m not better than Him!

Today we focus on rehabilitating people with problems, not punishing them. Research shows this is MUCH more effective.

They say sinners cannot exist in heaven so they can’t enter… but Christians are sinners too and they can enter since their sinful nature is washed clean. Why can’t non-Christians be wiped clean too?

Eternal love seeks the other to come to Him, not to banish Him. Eternal love seeks “spiritual rehab” wouldn’t you think?
But Christians are sinners too! Why does “believing Jesus died for us” make it ok to get out of judgment no matter how horrible of a person you were? I don’t get it!!

No, it sure doesn’t. In fact, if God existed, and had unconditional love, eternal punishment wouldn’t exist.

Yes think of it this way, Jesus only wants to marry those who chose Him in this life and who want to live with Him forever. Not the people who don’t care for Him or will not get along with others.
