I Was Baker Acted and Received a Bill From a Mental Health Center?

Question by Lorraine: I was Baker acted and received a bill from a mental health center?
I was Baker acted by a cop and spent 12 miserable hours in a mental health facility. I called a mental health help line because I suffer from obsessive thoughts and panic disorder and the cops came to my house and took me in, even after I said I would be alright. I am just furious–it’s for $ 1450.00 for 12 hours of “treatment” against my will. What will happen if I don’t pay it. I am unemployed and live in Florida.

It will go in to collections and be a bad mark against your credit. Call them and ask if they have a charity program. Many facilities do and they can write of all or some of the charge.
