Does Painkillers and Antidepressants Could Affect From Function Normal at Work?

Question by : Does painkillers and antidepressants could affect from function normal at work?
I started taking pain medications about 6 months ago and also antidepressants at the same time.
I was taking Lortab 10/500 every 4 hours plus Xanax 0.5 mg twice a day plus Cimbalta 60 mg once a day plus Zanaflex supposed to be 2 a day but I would take it at night only because make me feel so tired….but my Doctor change the Lortabs to “Percocet” but I think it was to much for my body that I had to go to the ER because I felt worse…..my Dr changed to Norco 10/325.
And on my last Dr. Appointment I told him I was still on pain and he gave me also (Morphin Sul 15 mg every 12 hrs….
I am sorry I forgot to mention what is my medical condition:
I suffer with “Isthmic Spondylolisthesis” which my Dr is doing all the test needed for surgery because my body is not responding to all the alternative treatments I had so far 5 epidural injections 3 cervical and 2 lumbar…I just had a Discogram done and oh! boy it was painful not during the procedure it was insane 3 days after and I spend almost a week on bed with a tremendous headache ,neck , back and leg pain…..also I suffer from “anxiety attacks and depression”..I just got a new job but I feel weird…I made stupid mistakes..I can’t concentrate ..I can’t focus..I have hard time to memorize….I get to nervous and getting anxiety attacks trying to execute my job…plus dealing with pain.
Now I start getting in trouble at work ,when before I never did.,Do you think all this medications are interfering to function normal….what should I do I went from a full time job as a server on an upscale restaurant to food runner 1day a week after I was suspended for the entire week.
Running food is going to put more stress on my back…and second I am going to make way less money…..
(Please if you can say anything nice or constructive do not bother givig your opinion,I have enough on my plate,I would like to have an opinion from people who are in the same situation like me or have experience with the side effects from this medication etc..)
Thanks. : )

YES YES YES YES YES……

I’m not going to say anything good, bad or words to console you. But just facts.

Everyone is inflicted with different illness. It’s just how you cope with it. What you are having is call chronic pain. The treatment, beside the primary cause, which is IS in yoiur case, will be how to “cure” the pain.

Sadly, there’s no “cure” for the pain. Opioids, pain killers, antidepressant can help the pain to a certain degree. However, you need to learn how not to let the pain debilitate you and your life.

As you have already experience, the side effects of all those medications. Yes, what you are experiencing are all side effects of the pain killers! Especially the opioid, morphine sulphate. As time pass, you will need higher dose to acheieve same pain relieve effect. This willl be no end! Do you want to be home bound? Cut youself off from the world and society? Eventually, you will even loss your friends. Prolong period on opioid will cause your memory to be poor even!

Search on Chronic pain. Medicine had made much improvement and more option and treatment modalities are available. Such as relaxation technique, pacing technique, meditation, yoga… Goggle for the best treatment that suit you. A book, “Manage your pain” by Dr Michael Nicholas/Dr Allan Molloy et al, is well utilise even by medical professional. It teaches you how to live your life to the fullest, instead of handicap by illness.

Many support groups for chronic pain are available. Take a look at the website. You may find some useful ways.

Many people have chronic pain. And the severity can be very bad. I believe so is yours. I had thrown the opioids out of my life, which at 1 stage, i neeed morphine sul 100mg 6hourly.
