This book is incredible! I found it to be right on target with what I have been going through… It addressed many issues one might experience in the early days of recovery and even years after the decision was made to quit using. Thank you for a very informative and helpful book!!!!!!!!

A MUST READ FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS, April 6, 2009

As a very good friend…all I can say is that this book is a must read for ALL! It will not only help everyone trying or trying again and again to be in recovery, but also for the family and friends who need a little insight on what they might have missed or not fully understood about being an addict. My feelings were truly changed from the pages of this amazing book and I have a better appreciation and understanding from the “other side”…I can not wait for a follow up to get more information and knowledge of what to do to help and encourage the ongoing process of recovery.

Please read this workbook if you feel that recovery from addiction may not be within your reach. Between the research-based exercises, Kelly Wilson’s personal experience, and the supportive, warm, honest tone, I can’t imagine how it would be possible to come away from reading this book without feeling SOME sort of shift. I could go on about the research behind Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and how many of my own clients have benefited from using these skills…but suffice it to say that I have read my fair share of recovery workbooks and “The Wisdom To Know The Difference” is in a class by itself.

Finally a great book for gamblers., July 4, 2003
    By A Customer

We use this book for all of our patients. They love the exercises and take them home and go over them again and again. This keeps them thinking about recovery. The book leaves no stone unturned. It has everything a problem gambler needs to stay in recovery.

Speaking as a professional counselor, this is an excellent resource guide for anyone struggling with pathological gambling [or abuse]. I have shared copy with clients who asked if they purchased the book, could they write in their responses [this is from an attorney client who found the bk clear, refreshing, and which became an important tool in developing an effective relapse prevention plan]. This book is even better than expected. If you have a gambling problem, think you might have a problem or know someone who does, you will find this book very informative. This book could also be used by Clinicians for their clients. It really encourages the reader to take a hard look at what their gambling habits have cost them, in terms of lost time, money and relationships. This book would be helpful for the loved one of an addicted gambler. While gambling is meant for entertainment, it ceases to be entertaining when the compulsion to gamble takes over your life This book helps the reader to feel like they are not alone.

Renee Hoffinger, MHSE, RD, has created a gem of a cookbook. The recipes are terrific — simple, deliciously healthy and diverse–enhanced by Ms. Hoffinger’s personable commentary and suggestions. The initial chapters provide reader-friendly information that is genuinely thought-provoking, useful and motivating. All through the book you hear Ms. Hoffinger’s voice, knowledgeable, warm and humorous, which has the effect of being highly encouraging. This is a valuable cookbook for anyone who wants to improve their health and well-being, whether or not in recovery, and who wants to cook healthy, delicious food for themselves and their family.
