How Old Do You Have to Be to Get Medicine for Anxiety?

Question by Zyon: How old do you have to be to get medicine for anxiety?
I heard that you have to be 18.. but I think I have moderate anxiety but If I can’t get medicine til i’m 18 cuz i’m only 16 now there is no point of going to the doctors… I live in PA if that matters.. thanks !

I don’t think their is a set age. I know children who take meds.
Get your parents to take you for a full physical.
The doctor will determine what you can take.
They have alot of natural herbal remedies also.

tell your parents. they will take you to your family doctor, and if your doctor decides you need treatment, he can prescribe an appropriate medication.

there is a certain class of anti-anxiety medications, called benzodiazepines, that doctors do not usually prescribe to younger patients, that’s what you might be thinking of. but there are many other medications available.
