Alternate Choices to Physical Therapy as a Career?

Question by zcall27: alternate choices to physical therapy as a career? first going into college i wanted to become a physical therapist. I would like to stay in a health profession, but really wasn’t sure where to go. ive considered physical therapist assistant, but realistically i wouldn’t make enough money and wouldn’t have room to grow. Also maybe occupational therapist, but i don’t know to much about that. im really open to anything. so don’t be afraid to submit any ideas! Also if you have any personal experience with that job, i would like to know why you like it and why you chose it. Read more... ...

I Have a Question on Being an Occupational Therapy Assistant?

Question by Noa Bach: I have a question on being an occupational therapy assistant? I was accepted into the occupational therapy program, someone recommended it to me because I am empathetic, compassionate, and always looking for ways to heal and lessen the suffering of others. I was wondering what I would be doing on a daily basis. Is the program hard? Also would I make a great salary to live very comfortably? The other career I was thinking about is preschool teaching but many people in my family discourage me because they say the pay is low and occupational therapy is better since I have a counseling type persona and I can help people with their problems. Is It Difficult to Get Into a Good Occupational Therapy Master’s Program?

Question by April: Is it difficult to get into a good Occupational Therapy Master’s program? Additionally, this summer, I will shadow an OT at a brain injury rehabilitation center. However, I am concerned that I will not be a competitive applicant to OT programs because my major choices (Philosophy and French) are totally unrelated to OT. How difficult is it to get into a top-notch OT school, such as USC? And how much does major choice matter in admissions? Read more... ...
