Has Anyone Used a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Book for Depression?

Question by Megan: Has anyone used a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy book for depression? If so, how did it go? What books would you recommend?? Best answer: Answer by Madworld711Yes. I have. It works, if you stick with it. I got mine from one of my old psych’s. But, I’m sorry I don’t remember the name of it. It was from a very old author is all I remember. Don’t take Shirley’s “doctor” advice. That’s just stupid. No real doctor in their right mind would prescribe that for someone with depression alone. That’s the same as xanax, which is for anxiety. Treatment Center Depression: Best Depression Treatments

Depression is thought to be a product of both psychological and biological processes in a person’s being. Stress is a vital factor in the first two episodes of depression. It is the trigger that starts the feeling of depression and it continuously feeds this until such time that depression has developed into a major stage. During the major stage, stress is no longer a factor. Depression is often hard to find in its early form. It’s hard to see the symptoms even if a loved one suffers from this illness. Sadness on occasion is part of life. This is natural. Real depression is a lot more permanent and serious. It’s already too late for early detection when the symptoms interfere with life. ...  by Leila: where is the border of chemical imbalance and “simple depression”? How do you know that you have a chemical brain problem that leads to depression and need medication or you are just “simply depressed”? I never took any medicine and never will, because I know my problems and I am working on them. My Therapist Says That I Have “Non-Biological Depression”. Can This Be Treated ??

Question by upnatom77: My therapist says that I have “Non-biological depression”. Can this be treated ?? I am 28 years old and have been seeing my current therapist for about a year now for depression, social anxiety, general anxiety, and very pronounced low self-esteem isssues. He is the 6th therapist I have seen in my life–I have literally suffered from depression/anxiety since I was 5 years old, and over my lifetime I have been on a total of 12 antidepressants/antianxiety meds, including Paxil, Buspar, Wellbutrin, Serzone, and so on. This list includes benzos like Klonopin, too. NONE of them have helped for longer than a week at most, some had no effect at all. In addition to therapists, I’ve seen scores of medical Dr’s to try med combonations, and to rule out other physical problems, but no luck. Read more... ...
