Depression and Pregnancy?

Question by his wife: Depression and pregnancy?
I’ve been depressed before so I know what it is like. But with this pregnancy it seems to be a million times worse than ever. I know alot of it has to do with hormones.

It really scares me b/c I had serve with my first daughter, to the point where I was hosptiolized. I agreed with my husband on having this baby b/c he told me that since we were older now things would be easier. And b/c I hadn’t had any depression in over 3 years.

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and for the last month it seems like I”m sinking farther and farther into depression.

The thing is antidepressant dont work with me I have to have mood stablizers so I don’t get to “high/manic”. Are there any safe ones to take. Honestly I would rather avoid medication during my pregnancy period. Is there anything natural I can do?
And is it normal to feel this depressed in a pregnancy.

Walk and think, clear your head a bit in the fresh open air.

Take up a simple sport, such as meditation maybe?

Or talk to your doc about it, he can’t force you to take drugs or antibiotics or anything.

Best luck!

Answer by Just A Mom
I know how that feels, I started taking pills then stopped. I just changed my activities and that really helped. I got into a rut and had to get out of it. I still do that sometimes even though I have had my baby. I notice I feel that way when I start falling back into that same rut. You can do this. Just remember that. Don’t be afraid to tell a friend how you feel. Don’t be alone. Do Something for yourself. Good Luck.
