Does Physical Therapy Help a Great Deal W/sciatica?

Question by deirdrefaith: Does help a great deal w/sciatica?
Well, I fell many yrs. ago –slid down on my side on a greasy dining RM floor @ a restaurant. My back never healed properly. Wish I’d gone to a chiropractor right away, but didn’t. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE gone to PT for sciatica, and did it help U a LOT?? OH GOSH I HOPE SO!!! You see, I work on my feet all day long and wondering if some co-workers may think I am “lazy” coz during slow times, I spend 1/3 of the time sitting due to back pain. I have to wear those disposable heating patches all day, and some days they don’t seem to work as well. I want to KNOW if the physical therapy is REALLY gonna help me b4 I start dishing out all that dough. I’ll even combine it w/chiropractic care~but even that doesn’t ALWAYS work like 100%. It stinx. Would love to invest in something as effective as possible. Caring advice pls, thanks?

I’ve had sciatica before and it got to where I almost wanted to cut my own leg off it hurt sooooo much. But, I did some research on the wonderful net, and found losethebackpain.com. I ordered their system and got to learn what I could do with my problem. It took me about a year to fully get out of pain, but now I am literally back to normal.

It depends on what is going on inside that caused your sciatica. In my case it was from muscle imbalances. The piriformis muscle had overexerted itself and basically strained itself to where it was compressing the nerve there. SOOOoooo, with very painful stretching of the hamstrings and piriformis muscle, I was able to relax those muscles back to normal. Like I said, it took me about a year to get to where I wasn’t having any more pain on a day to day basis. I still continue those stretches as well and participate in regular resistance training and cardio.

On the onset of my pain, I was asking some PTs about it. They said that a chiropractor was the worst thing to go to for it. But anyways, if your problem is solely a muscle imbalance issue you should be able to save a lot of money and do it yourself at home. Check them out..
