There are numerous writing styles that are available for use in the writing of various academic works, and the choice of style is dependant on the type of topic or profession under which an individual is writing. Virtually, all academic or professional fields have a specific academic writing style that is preferable to the professions or scholars under that specific field of study. The Oxford writing style is perhaps one of the most comprehensive writing styles currently available in the field of academia. Oxford style papers make use of a combination of citation elements to provide the most comprehensive referencing and citation possible. These include foot notes, end notes and in-line numerical denotations that depict where the in-text citation is supposed to be. The style also provide for a bibliography list that offers a comprehensive list of all the literary work that may have been used as sources of the material that was used in the creation of references. The in-line denotations in Oxford style papers consist of supra-script Roman or Arabic Numerals which denote the specific citations in a sequential order. The sequential denotation of references using sequenced in-line notations make referencing easy in Oxford style papers. Oxford style papers using foot notes are perhaps the easiest to reader and check for references because the references used in each page are located at the end of each page and thus the reader does not have to go to the end of the page in order to be able to check the references. On the other hand, Oxford style papers written using foot notes are akin to many other papers referenced in different styles because the end notes are located at the end of the document. Thus, readers of Oxford style papers with end notes have to check the references at the end of the document. However, Oxford style papers are still advantageous because the end notes are sequenced and thus easy to check. The writing of Oxford style papers makes use of two common ways of integrating other people’s work into your own work. These methods include paraphrasing and direct quotations.
