Help for Depression Without Medication?

Question by Blake: Help for Depression Without Medication? I currently suffer from severe depression. I know this because it runs very strong in my mothers side of the family, and they are all on medication of various sorts. My mother before me had it, and now she is deceased due to cancer, and while she was a teen, she tried killing herself several times because of depression. My father, who I currently live with, will not take me to a health clinic to get me help or to see a psychiatrist because he “doesn’t believe in medication”. There is no point in talking to him about it anymore, or trying to get him to take me, because all he will say is that I need to “pull my head out of my a**” and “stop being stupid and trying to get attention.” So, the ultimate question is: how can I treat depression in any way without the use of prescription medication?
