Question by crashtst: Why is sense of smell affected by depression? I know that the olfactory bulbs (things that make you smell) are located right next to the nucleus accumbens (the so-called “pleasure center” in the brain) – and that both are part of the ancient limbic system, but seriously, why do people who experience depression often report a loss of a sense of smell?
